Dr. Mary Mulcahey selected as 2022 Healthcare Hero

New Orleans City Business selected Dr. Mary Mulcahey as one of this year’s Health Care Heroes. The designation honors health care professionals in the New Orleans area in the following categories: nursing, physicians, professionals and volunteers. Honorees are selected based on industry achievement and community involvement.

Dr. Mary Mulcahey joined the faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tulane in April 2017, as the Director of Tulane’s Women’s Sports Medicine Program. In that role, Dr. Mulcahey has been instrumental in the design, development, and leadership of a comprehensive approach to the care of active women. This cutting edge program combines resources and services of multiple disciplines including orthopaedic surgery, primary care sports medicine, physical therapy, nutrition, and sports psychology.

In February 2022, Dr. Mulcahey was appointed as an Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs for Tulane University School of Medicine. In this role, Dr. Mulcahey serves an important role in the Dean’s Office working with the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in providing insight and support of activities including, but not limited to, personnel and honors review processes, recruitment, retention, growth, and development of high quality and diverse faculty, interactions with the General Medical Faculty and the Office of Multi-Cultural Affairs.

This year’s Health Care Heroes’ honorees were celebrated at an in-person event in October at the New Orleans Museum of Art from 4–6 p.m.
